R6,000 basic + uncapped commission + approved business expenses

  • R6,000 Guaranteed monthly basic salary
  • R1,000 For every qualified meeting that takes place
  • 100% Of a new customer's first full month's subscription
  • No cap On what you can earn in commission

Are you the person who can walk into a room where you know nobody — and leave having spoken to ten people?

We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys meeting people.

Someone who would rather attend a business event, introduce themselves to strangers and start conversations than spend the whole day sitting behind a desk.

You don’t need years of sales experience. In fact, this is an entry-level opportunity.

What matters much more to us is your personality, attitude and ambition.

If you’re confident, curious, energetic and naturally enjoy talking to people, we’d like to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing

Your primary job is simple:

Meet the right people and create opportunities for conversations about Chronodesk.

You’ll attend business events, networking sessions, conferences, expos and other relevant gatherings around Johannesburg and Gauteng.

You’ll meet business owners, managers and other decision-makers, learn a little about their businesses and identify people who may benefit from Chronodesk.

When you find the right person, your goal isn’t to give them a hard sell or close the deal.

Your goal is to start a genuine conversation, identify whether there could be a fit, and arrange a qualified meeting with our Managing Director.

We’ll take it from there.

You’ll also spend some of your time researching worthwhile events, identifying companies and people we’d like to meet, following up with contacts you’ve made, and keeping track of your opportunities in Chronodesk.

What is Chronodesk?

Chronodesk is a South African business software platform designed to help professional and service-based businesses manage their work in one connected place.

It brings together areas such as projects, tasks, timesheets, billing, service desk, CRM, resource planning and business operations.

We’re growing, and we’re looking for someone who can help us meet more of the right businesses.

What we’re looking for

We’re much more interested in who you are than how impressive your CV looks.

You’ll probably enjoy this job if:

  • You genuinely enjoy meeting and talking to new people.
  • You’re comfortable introducing yourself to someone you’ve never met.
  • You’re naturally curious and ask people questions about themselves and their businesses.
  • You’re confident without being pushy.
  • You communicate clearly and professionally.
  • You enjoy being out and about rather than sitting behind a desk all day.
  • You’re comfortable attending events on your own and creating your own conversations.
  • You’re organised enough to follow up after meeting someone.
  • You’re ambitious and motivated by earning according to your performance.
  • You’re willing to learn about businesses, technology and Chronodesk.

You do not need to be an experienced salesperson.

We’ll teach you Chronodesk, our target market, how to recognise a good opportunity and how to qualify a potential customer.

You will need a valid driver’s licence and reliable access to your own transport, as travelling to events and meetings is an important part of the role.

How you’ll earn

We want the person who succeeds in this role to share directly in the value they create.

R6,000 monthly basic salary

This is your guaranteed basic salary portion.

R1,000 for every qualified meeting

For every qualified meeting you generate that takes place, you’ll earn R1,000 commission.

A qualified meeting needs to be with an appropriate business and a decision-maker, or someone meaningfully involved in the buying decision, where there is a genuine potential fit for Chronodesk.

Your initial target will be 5 qualified meetings per month.

Hit that target and that’s another R5,000.

Then comes the exciting part.

If one of the opportunities you introduced becomes a Chronodesk customer, you’ll receive commission equal to 100% of their first full month’s recurring Chronodesk subscription, once their qualifying subscription payment has been received.

Bring us a customer worth R10,000 per month?

You earn R10,000.

Bring us a customer worth R20,000 per month?

You earn R20,000.

Bring us two R20,000-per-month customers?

You earn R40,000.

This commission is in addition to your basic salary and qualified-meeting commissions.

There is no commission cap.

We don’t expect you to close these deals yourself. Your job is to create the opportunity. We’ll handle the sales meetings, demonstrations, proposals and closing process.

Over time, if you’re interested in developing further into sales and business development, you’ll have the opportunity to learn by being part of that process.

Business expenses

We don’t expect you to pay for doing your job out of your basic salary.

Approved business-related expenses associated with attending agreed events and meetings — including business travel, parking and approved event costs — can be claimed through Chronodesk.

Expenses need to relate to approved business activities and be properly recorded and supported.

This isn’t a traditional desk job

Some days you’ll research opportunities and follow up with people you’ve met.

Other days you might attend a technology conference, business breakfast, networking event, industry gathering or expo.

Some events may occasionally take place outside normal office hours.

The important thing isn’t how many hours you spend sitting at a desk.

It’s whether you’re creating quality conversations with the right people.

You might be exactly who we’re looking for even if…

You’ve never worked in sales before.

You don’t have a business degree.

Your CV is short.

This could even be your first serious step into a business career.

We’re looking for potential.

If you’re the sort of person who makes friends wherever you go, enjoys discovering what people do, isn’t afraid to approach someone you’ve never met and wants an opportunity where your earnings can grow with your results, we’d particularly like to hear from you.

Location & travel

This is a Johannesburg-based role, and you’ll spend a significant amount of your time attending business events, networking opportunities and meetings across Johannesburg and surrounding business areas.

Your designated work base will be Regus Woodmead, Johannesburg, where you’ll also have access to workspace when you’re not attending events or meetings.

Because being mobile is an important part of this position, you’ll need:

  • A valid driver’s licence.
  • Reliable access to your own transport.
  • To live within a reasonable commuting distance of Woodmead.
  • To be comfortable travelling regularly around Johannesburg and surrounding areas.

Approved business travel, parking and event-related expenses will be reimbursed through Chronodesk’s expense claim process.

For travel purposes, Regus Woodmead will be treated as your normal work base. Your normal commute between home and Woodmead is therefore not a business travel expense. Business travel to approved events and meetings will be calculated from Woodmead, including where you travel directly from home to an event.

This means you should consider your normal commute to Woodmead before applying for the position.
